Tour Itinerary
After collecting your luggage and leaving the airport, make your way to your accommodation in Oslo city centre. You could opt to take a taxi or use public transport, but for a more direct and comfortable ride, we can arrange a private airport transfer for you.
If you arrive early in the day, spend the afternoon walking through the city. You could stroll along the Karl Johans gate main street, along the Aker Brygge marina and past the beautiful Oslo Opera House. You could also choose to visit the beautiful Vigeland Sculpture Park, tour the Royal Palace, explore the Akershus fortress or view Oslo City Hall.
Other attractions include the Fram Museum, displaying a world-famous polar exploration ship, and the extensive collection of works by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch at the Munch Museum.
Spend the night in Oslo.
Get an early start and head to Oslo Central Station, where you’ll begin the Norway in a Nutshell® journey towards Bergen, with an overnight stop in Flåm.
This train ride takes you over Norway’s “mountainous rooftops”, through charming villages like Gol and Geilo.
In Myrdal, you’ll switch trains to the famous Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) for an incredible ride to the beautiful village of Flåm.
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Flåm, where you can follow one of the many hiking trails in the mountains around the village, or participate in an optional activity, such as kayaking, fjord sightseeing or visiting the Stegastein platform.
Spend the night in Flåm.
This morning, you’ll board a boat to sail through Aurlandsfjord into the World Heritage-listed Nærøyfjord, the narrowest fjord in all of Europe.
This is perhaps the most beautiful arm of Sognefjord, with its mighty waterfalls and small farms clinging to the steep mountainsides.
The boat docks in Gudvangen, from where you’ll be transported by bus to Voss to board the train for the last stretch of the journey to Bergen.
Spend the night in Bergen.
Today you have a full day to explore beautiful Bergen!
Take a stroll through Bryggen, a city quarter that is designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, with remarkably preserved, colourful houses. The bustling district is also home to some incredible eateries serving delicious food.
Next, you could enjoy a ride on the Fløibanen Funicular to the peak of Mount Fløyen. You'll find several winding hiking trails at the summit, which will lead you across to surrounding mountains. Another option for panoramic views over the city is to take the cable car even higher to the top of Mount Ulriken!
For a dose of culture, why not visit a museum? Top picks include Troldhaugen, dedicated to composer Edvard Grieg, and KODE, Scandinavia’s largest museum of art and design.
Spend another night in Bergen.
Today you will fly from Bergen to Svolvær, the “capital of the Lofoten islands”.
This picturesque fishing town has a charming Scandinavian atmosphere. The centre features several boutique galleries, shops and cultural attractions. Despite its small size, it’s a hub buzzing with activity, with plenty for you to explore.
Keep an eye out for the immense Svolværgeita (the “Svolvær goat”) pinnacle that towers over the region.
Spend the night in Svolvær.
Enjoy a free day exploring the local area.
Take a walk to the nearby island of Svinøya. You could visit the Kunstnerhuset art centre or amble along the waterfront to take in spellbinding views of the sea and surrounding islands.
To really soak up the local culture, make sure you stroll between the stockfish racks and traditional fishing huts called “rorbuer”.
In the evening, take your pick from one of the traditional restaurants in Svolvær. You’ll find some of the best eateries on the Lofoten islands here, so make sure you try some authentic Norwegian cuisine.
Spend another night in Svolvær.
It’s time to say goodbye to Norway! Enjoy the morning exploring any sights you might have missed during your time in Svolvær before catching a flight back to Oslo or Bergen.
From there, you can make your way to your connecting flight home.
